Check out the followiing link for NYCT bus sales info:

Interesting to see how low the asking prices are for these units.
It's also interesting to speculate about who might purchase them.

The price listed for these buses is only the Tire Lease Value, or price to buy the tires. You as a purchaser must put in a bid amount. Your final price would be what you bid plus the tire lease value. Winner of vehicle would be highest bidder.

You can bet that if any of these buses are worth anything at all, Scott Richards of Regional Transit will sure take a look at them!

He can make a 'silk purse' out of a sow's ear!

In retrospect, the Orion VI HEV has to be regarded as a historically significant bus for NYCT and MTAB.
Even though there were only ten units (a small group in a huge bus fleet), they were pivotal units in a number of ways.
It pioneered both the LF and HEV technology platforms, which today are embodied in the large and growing fleets of Orion VII HEV's operated by NYCT and MTAB.
I wonder what would have happened if NF had played their cards differently with the DOB; would NYC have had a big fleet of DE40LF's instead of Orion VII HEV's?

Hi Bob, other than selling the Orion VI hybrids, the MTA is also selling the New Flyer Vikings. The VI's are inoperational while the vikings seem to be fine. Its a shame that the MTA or NYTM cannot save one of each bus model. I just don't get why the TM can't save more buses.

If I still had some money left in my account I'd buy at least four of them. Two Vikings, and two VIs. I could use two as mobile command posts, and the others I could use to start my TA. Unfortunately I spent almost all my money on a fleet of Ford Crown Vics.

I believe the Vikings are operational. They still send these out on x51 runs. I believe the MTA is selling the vikings so the wont have to stock parts for the vikings in the future as they are standardizing on MCI cruisers for the Express fleet. I also believe the MTA Bus company will gradually phase out all the CNGs from express service at College Point and Spring Creek.
