In short, apparently an office building will arise over the northern section of the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
I recall when the terminal itself opened in 1950, and also when Greyhound moved into the basement in the 1960's.
The additional suburban floor (1985???) was a surprise: a return to nose-in loading and a wide-open floor plan, without the hidden corners of the 1950 suburban level.
The new construction will supposedly include some bus parking and a few more loading platforms.
"We'll see."

N4 Jamaica,

What WINS reports on the addition of a building over the terminal is true.

A friend of mine in construction in Manhattan has seen preliminary plans, and it will be spectacular.

The details on the underpinnings of the new structure are complicated but will be accomplished without a great deal of inconvenience to bus operations beneath.

One item that was not mentioned in Stan's report was the fact that the rampage to the Lincoln Tunnel, which is in a condition of deterioration, will be replaced with wider access.

I also remember when the terminal was built and what negative changes it brought to that part of Eighth Avenue - let's hope the redevelopment changes all that!
