This bus was invloved in a bad front end accident last Sunday. The bus driver lost control and drove head on into a tree. The driver had to be cut out of the bus. The bus is currently parked at Eastchester Depot. On a side note the driver only had two weeks on the job. |

Word has reached me that this bus will never see service again. |

Since the bus is so new (Less than 6 months i'm assuming) why doesn't MTA send the bus back to MCI for repair, it still is under warranty, right? |

Wow thanks for telling us but why would they give a rookie such a new bus? Too bad for the bus but I hope the driver is doing good though. |

Warrenty doesn't cover encounters with trees !
If it does have a bent frame you probably won't see it back in service. |

I could be wrong, but my guess is that they don't really keep the new guys from driving the new buses. |

The bus was out of Yonkers Depot if I'm not mistaken. They only have MCI Cruisers up there. Any new Bus Operator will always get a cruiser no matter what line he/she works. Thankfully the driver is OK. |

Thankfully the driver is okay. The bus is always replaceable. The sad fact is though, who knows if the driver will keep his/her job given the fact of being a new employee. |

Considering a few factors that the bus operator had control over, like speed, is it a wonder why he was terminated for destroying a MCI? |

Hawk, I was being sarcastic. Given the fact a new driver totaled a bus, new or old don't matter. I would not expect to see them reporting to work any longer. |

In a case like this, do they fire a driver on the spot or do they fire him/her and then make them pay for reparations? |

I would imagine the driver is out on worker's compensation right now and will probably wind up going to arbitration to try and keep his job. |
