According to the board meeting minutes on the Centro website, the authority will be taking delivery of six additional new Gillig buses in the near future.
Three of the buses will be 30-foot low-floors for use by Centro of Oswego on the Fulton city route and the Fulton-Mexico-Oswego route. These will replace cutaway buses that are presently being used on these services, and are being purchased using an available option to an order placed by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
The other three buses will be 40-foot suburbans for the Syracuse suburban routes. Funding was obtained to replace two of Centro's 1996 MCI cruisers used on these routes, but the authority was able to work out a deal with the Rochester-Genesee RTA to use an option to their order with Gillig for suburbans. The difference in cost between the transit suburban bus and the MCI cruiser allowed Centro to order three buses instead of the two cruisers originally specified. |
