What a mess it was! Got out of an appointment in Glen Cove at 4:45pm and it's a torrential rainstorm. I get a few pics and then get on the N21 bus going up the hill.

Get off and it's still pouring!

The N27 comes only a few minutes late, not too bad considering. Glen Cove ave though has some minor flooding which makes for slow going. Then we get to Back road where we make that left. After seeing these pics you'll see why water was coming into the bus through the doors!

Woman stuck had to leave her car.

And they still try to drive through.

I got off the bus because the traffic wasn't moving much and I wanted to get something to eat at the chinese place. Things were moving so slow I easily was able to outpace the bus.

I get to the chinese place at 5:40pm and see the reason for the delay. Glen Cove road has become a lake. I wonder what they will do with the buses?

Nothing! It's sitting there and not even turning around.

A 2nd N27, the next bus, also was stuck in the traffic jam. I guess no one told them Glen Cove road south of 25A became a lake.
I've been off that bus for over an hour, when the rains start getting very heavy again. The bus still hasn't moved.

I walk on over to 25A and see what's up with the N20 to Hicksville. There were 2 N20's, the 1st one is crowded the 2nd one isn't.

They wouldn't pick me up in that spot despite the rains, so I had to walk to the bus stop. Since the 25a intersection was gridlocked, one of the drivers got out and started telling the cars stuck in the middle of the road to turn around, so he could get through. Finally after 10 minutes of getting from where Burger King is they get through. The 2nd empty bus didn't stop but the 1st packed one did, I got on he said he was 2 hours late plus the farebox was broken.
We make it to the next light but the road is flooded again. I figure I guess we're not going anywhere, esp since the driver got off and was speaking to the fireman. I got off too, and managed to get on the 2nd bus, to our right, which was empty.
Anyway they get the fire department to "escort" us through the flooded road. The northern part of the road was passable but jammed with traffic.
It was a bit hairy but we made it through. Had a load of students get on at NYIT our bus but we still only managed to get 75% full. The 1st bus though got jam packed with everyone at CW Post, we only had a few more ppl. The rest of the way wasn't too bad, but Nortern parkway was shut at 106/107 with flooding.
Get to Hicksville at 7:30pm and head on over to see what's up with the LIRR, since a crowd of people were waiting for the N22. 45-60 min delays, due to flooding at Mineola. I see an N22 pull in and run for it. No need though, since they were crowding on. There hadn't been a bus for well over an hour, and this was an N22 to Mineola (no prob because I am just goin to Westbury). We leave around 7:40pm. I finally figured out this was the same bus I had on the N20.
The 1st bus N20 to Hicksville was the 4:42pm due in Greenvale , the 2nd bus was the 5:21pm due in Greenvale. They both left at 6:50pm. That 2nd bus then does the 6:04pm N22 to Mineola, running over 90 minutes late!
What a storm. Nothing much anyone could do to improve the situation, but they really needed some police out there to direct traffic and some detours for the buses to take. I don't know what ever became of those 2 N27's, they must have had to detour because when I got home after 8pm I heard Glen Cove road was still shut down!
