New York Times article.

The DesignLine gas-turbine hybrid elctric will be running on the M42 this week and will be in New York for two months.

Wow, What a nice bus, Will it be running on sunday? Maybe I'll go into the city and try to get photos and a ride.

I hope the MTA keeps that bus and orders more, they always return the sexy looking buses like that Gillig Phantom demo that they returned.

The Gillig was only in New York to test the hybrid propulsion system; there was never an intention of purchasing Gilligs.

This 'Design Line' has some attributes of the Nabi 60 BRT (namely the mirrors and the windshield) and, standing side by side with the RTS, it makes the RTS look pretty advanced!

That can be attributed to GM designers way back in 1979 - amazing, isn't it?

Got a picture of that UGLY bus sitting at the Jamaica bus Terminal as the Q9A the week before you made this post. I was on vacation in NYC. UGLY looking bus. I'll try to post that pic here when I can.

According to a bus operator, JFK is suppose to get 10 of these buses for the Q60 (40 Ft buses that is) and 60 more around the start of 2008.

Here we go with this.

I think it looks better than that one NovaBus LFS that the MTA has..... they still have it, right?

No, the 1997 LFS that NYCTA tested was returned to NovaBus; it was posted on BusChat that it's now operating in Montréal. The two LFSes running for TBTA were ordered in 2001 and carry CTA striping; they were possibly constructed from spare CTA body shells.
