Ten people were injured when a suburban bus operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority / Long Island Bus crashed into a car late Wednesday night on a street in Garden City. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening, according to police.
Garden City Police Department Sgt. Bobby Pedersen told the Associated Press that the bus was making a left turn when it collided with the car at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, Garden City Police could provide no additional details about the crash. Long Island Bus could not be reached for comment.
According to the Associated Press the injured included bus passengers, as well as the driver of the car and a passenger in the car. All were taken to Nassau County Medical Center.
The Long Island Bus system carries more than 100,000 passengers daily on routes in Nassau, western Suffolk County and eastern Queens. |
