Here's a particularly nostalgic scene at the "Eye-En-Dee's" Queens Plaza station in 1970.

This timeless photo was snapped just prior to the hideous graffiti scourge rearing its ugly head; the "R40M" was the "new-kid-on-the-block" at that time.

Note also the classic signage and incandescent lighting...........

At the start of this topic, I'd mentioned that in the last "Indiana Jones" flick, "DIAL OF DESTINY", there is a scene where, on horseback, the swashbucklin' INDy gallops through the 59th Street station in Manhattan (the station set was actually built in Scotland!)

This quite interesting page (w/links) is about the never used upper level of the IND's Roosevelt Avenue station; indeed, ol' INDy himself would be quite at home, exploring the damp, dank, dimly-lit shell of "the station that never was"..........

Modern subway "archeologists" know that one of the rarest artifacts from decades past today is the sight of a long-abandoned change/token booth.

This long-closed booth served straphangers at the "Eye-En-Dee's" Northern Boulevard station for decades.............

That station in "CROCODILE DUNDEE" was none other than the abandoned "Bee-Em-Tee" 9th Avenue (lower level) station; indeed, yet another abandoned station where the adventure-seekin' INDy Jones would have been right at home in!

Funny that you brought "Crocodile" up; I was just watching it on dvd earlier(!!); we see his galpal dash down into a street entrance station with a vintage "7th Avenue" line sign over the stairway, and then pass through an ancient wooden turnstile (a staffed newsstand is also in this scene)

"59" placards are affixed to the columns; one of the large "NINTH AVE" signs hung from the ceiling is fully illuminated with incandescent bulbs, and has another sign covering the original:

"AA" (circle)

"B" (diamond)

"CC" (diamond)

No trains are (sadly) in this scene, but you can see the daylight in the distance, where the Culver shuttle tracks emerged from the lower level station.

The station had been abandoned for 11 years at the time of the film (1986)...................

During the last several minutes of the film, we see "Crocodile" about to enter the subway; in the background, we see "Torpedo" #PA2383 pull up (offside view).

Odd that no train was seen in the old 9th Street station (posing as 59th Street); indeed, a regular train of "revenue" cars could have easily been used (or, perhaps, a museum train)

IMHO, I could have seen a short consist of either "R-27/30s" or "Brightliners" used in the platform scenes.

Despite the numerous faux "59"/"FIFTY-NINTH STREET." signs, the tiled "9" motif is clearly seen when the camera is facing the near wall.

Still a lot of fun, though....."Crikey!"

Any idea which depot RTS "#PA2383" was based out of, at the time of "Crocodile Dundee"?

Any clue as to the route(s) it then operated on?

I'm almost certain that this sequence was filmed in Manhattan, so your information on this bus running on Manhattan routes would be indeed valid.
