LaGuardia Airport has had bus service since its opening.
Besides Carey Transportation the Board of Transportation (NYCTA) had the B-72 provide service till 1949.
Triboro Coach had routes Q33 and the Q72 (acquired from the NYCTA in 1961)
But did you know that Fifth Avenue Coach had route 16 Elmhurst Crosstown go to the New York Municipal Airport using brand new Yellow Coach model 740?
The photo shows number 1400 and clearly signed for 16 Elmhurst Crosstown-82nd Street-Baxter-Broadway (the curb side black curtain) bu no sign on the street side (red curtain).

Only up to 1943, when the entire 16 route was shut down for the duration of World War II; after its late 1945 resumption, its path was truncated back to before the 1940 extension to what was then referred to as "La Guardia Field" and "New York Municipal Airport."

Love that photo..I can barely remember when LGA appeared that way...the only part of that art deco architecture remaining are the American Airlines hangar's and offices that were at the west side of the central terminal building. Not sure if even those are still there, with the massive recent rebuilding....
The Marine Air Terminal, which once hosted the Pan Am "Clipper" Boeing 314's, is however alive and well, at the far west end of the airport.

Even Surface Transportation ventured out to LaGuardia Field.
However, in this case I think it was a charter or special service since only half of the destination sign is showing.
The Surface is an Twin Coach model 44-GDE of 1941 vintage and is fleet number 995 it was part of the last group of Twins Surface would buy.
Ahead is a Triboro Coach TDH-4507 on route Q33.
