Regarding "civilian" travel to the Moon......
The idea, as I have mentioned previously, is certainly not a new one.
In the 1935 Max Fleischer "Color Classic" cartoon "Dancing On The Moon" (Mom turned 18 the month this cartoon was released!) a group of humanized newlywed animals are embarking on a honeymoon excursion to the Moon.
Their transport is a streamlined "civil" rocket ship (VERY Flash Gordon-ish!) is seen both in animated and scale model form (3-d models were used often in the Fleischer cartoons of that era)
The sign alongside the runway/launch pad reads:
"TO-NITE.......DANCING ON THE MOON.....$1.00 PER COUPLE"
Talk about going on a honeyMOON(!!)
Loving classic animation as I do (I grew up with it, many eons ago!), I still loving watching this little gem on DVD today.
In this cartoon, now nearly 90 years old, there is clearly oxygen on the Moon, not to mention no gravity issues.......
"NYO"

*(Here's another "in depth" page that truly stimulates the imagination; intense, inticate science at work here, for certain!) |
