If you are like Your's Truly (SCARY thought!!) there are songs/tunes that you either associate with buses, or, associate with riding them.

Here are some of my faves.......

Classic BEATLES (great tunes to play in your head, or, on your CD player!) when looking at photos/recalling 1960's/early 1970's "Tee-Yay"/"Em-Tee-Yay" bus photos ("BEEP BEEP" is my personal fave!)

Glen Campbell tunes of the late 1960's/1970's; I always associate these "great ol' country boy" tunes with riding highway coaches in the late 1960's and 1970's.

Classic Dolly Parton songs: again, great "down home" tunes for highway coach travelin'! (ditto Merle Haggard!)

Connie Francis (Newark's Singing Sweetheart!): wonderful for recalling the glory days of PSNJ, and the other Jersey carriers I knew so well, back in my much younger days!

Frank Sinatra: I always associate his timeless music to both riding aboard an AC-bound bus on the Turnpike, or classic 1960's/1970's-era airliners**!

*Also, ANYTHING played over "SEVENTY-SEVEEEENNNNN DOUBLYA AYYYY BEEEEE-CEEEEEEE!", back in the day, especially via a transistor radio, aboard a classic highway coach!

** For whatever reason, I've long associated Nancy "These Boots Are Made For Walkin' " Sinatra's 1960's "go-go" numbers perfect for recalling the good old days of watching classic propliners and early jetliners from the observation deck at the old Newark Airport or ANY airport!)

As far as railroad "tunes", I've been associating vintage Henry Mancini classics with the CNJ, especially in the pre-Aldene era, since the 1970's.

His classic "PINK PANTHER" theme always brings back memories of the PATH system, back in the 70's and early 1980's.

Classical harpsicord music always brings to mind not only the lofty LACKAWANNA and JERSEY CENTRAL waterfront terminals of my youth, but also, the late, great, Pennsylvania Station (and, of course, GCT)

Big Band music (as well as ragtime and classic jazz) make me think of the subways, els, and streetcars of those eras.

Annette "Mousketeer/Beach Party" Funicello's rock 'n roll tunes of the late 1950's/early 1960's, without fail, ALWAYS make me think back to the Staten Island and 69th Street ferries when Mom and I used to "set sail" on our numerous day trips, nearly 60 years ago!

I know this is DEFINETLY due to the fact that, when Mom and I were in St. George one summer day, and we were having fun trying to "count the cars" lined up for the Staten Island and 69th St. boats, a fellow in a sharp red '59 Chevy had his radio playing, and, while we were counting the cars, two "Annette" tunes came on back-to-back ("THE GLIDE" and "MA, HE'S MAKING EYES AT ME")

To this day, I hear these songs on CD, and I can see Mom and I at St. George once again, as though it were yesterday (PLENTY of Old Looks and MACKS on hand as well, not to mention those wonderfully ancient SIRT ME-1's!

Ahhh, what memories......

Glen Campbell's timeless "Gentle On My Mind" is great "over-the-road" music while aboard a SCENICRUISER, an EAGLE, or ANY "Bison"..........

Besides all the obvious songs that are written about traveling on "the 'Hound", or ridin' the rails, or planes, I also associate certain songs about certain people and places and times in my life...I believe all of us do that...

One of my faves, was this rewrite of the tune, "Wabash Cannonball" into "Promised Land" by Chuck Berry. Elvis also had a hit with it....
