Speaking of Public Service ASV buses... here is one ex-PS model 729 bound for Cuba, as a demo, to replace the aging trolleys.
Havana Electric Railway was to have acquired at least 44 of these ASVs but only one made it.
The first photo shows the one and only ready for shipment to Cuba from Miami along with some FitzJohn "Cityliners" and a couple of GM intercity buses.
Photo two shows the bus in service, Sept 18, 1949 (from a newspaper article)
and photo three shows the bus rusting away

The only one of these photos I had previously seen was the one where the one ASV that made it to Cuba was photographed; NEVER saw the other two....thanks for posting!
As a lifelong PSNJ enthusiast/historian, I've always found the unique ASV's to be quite interesting vehicles.
PS also rebuilt older front-engined YELLOWS into ASV's; the newer models were all built by YELLOW, except for one lone MACK.
The first major conversion of a streetcar line to an ASV route took place in September of 1935, when the "#49 UNION" (Newark-Bound Brook) streetcar line was converted to ASV's.
Though ASV's were commonplace on a number of HUDSON and ESSEX Division lines, none were ever operated on BERGEN Division routes.
I always thought it sad that PS repainted its ASV fleet in the new postwar gray only to sell them for scrap a few years later.
Had the ASV's migrated en masse to Havana, it would have been an easy conversion from tram to trolleybus, as Havana's cars already used double overhead.....

Here is an excellent site on Havana's wonderfully decrepit and charming "Toonerville" trams, with many rare photos, maps, etc.....

Getting back to the ASV's for a moment......
It was sad that PSNJ's modern ASV's only enjoyed a service life of little more than a decade; the vehicles were just about "well broken in" at the time of their retirement; even more ironic that the oldest of PS streetcars that were still running in the Newark City Subway in early 1954 had then been in service for 40-odd years.
Only astute transit historians would know (or care) that the dual-powered "SILVER LINE" coaches in Boston today, and those in Seattle, are direct descendents of PSNJ's innovative (though short-lived) ASV's of the 1930's.
Except for that lone vehicle that made it to Havana, all of PS's ASV's ended their days at FEDERAL scrapyard in Newark, their trolley poles reaching vainly upward for non-existent overhead wires (sad, too, that no other buyer could be found for them, perhaps, in Mexico, or somewhere else in that part of the globe).....

Some interesting ASV trivia:
The only YELLOW COACH trolley bus built for Baltimore was #2501, built as an ASV.
It was delivered to the BTC in 1938, and was the only YELLOW Model 729 in the initial purchase of 22 trolley buses.
YELLOW, in total, built 356 ASV's for PSNJ; the lone BTC dual-powered ASV was the only other one.
It was converted into a "conventional" (electric only) trolleybus in 1944, and was retired in 1953........

It is also quite interesting to know that PSNJ's original and pioneering "All Service Vehicle" (dual-powered trolley bus) concept has also traveled overseas.
As of 2001, Esslingen, Germany, took delivery of a number of MERCEDES-BENZ articulated dual-powered trolley buses; there have also been experimental dual-powered trolley bus programs throughout Europe, throughout the years.
Seattle's dual-powered articulated coaches are equipped with Westinghouse electric motors and Detroit 6V-92 diesel engines......
