When the City acquired Fifth Avenue Coach and Surface Transit not only did they quickly paint buses into the City's colors but also spend money bringing them up to the standards of the NYCTA...

Carefully notice the following...

a) change the windshield wipers from pantograph to single arm
b) change the tow eyes from above the bumper go below
c) side destination sign moved from behind the front door to ahead of the rear door
d) change rear doors: from each panel with window panes above and below to two panes only
e) change the driver's horizontal stanchion from curved to straight
f) change upholster seats to the hard plastic (uncomfortable) seats

Perhaps they took the rear doors off from wrecked NYCTA TDH-5301... but how many TA 5301 buses were wrecked to make the change on all former FACCO and ST buses?? (We must remember that GM still had spare parts for their TDH-5301 models in the warehouse.)

One of the FACL/ST buses, towards the end of its running life, had the rear lights (as below the rear windows that by then were converted from 3- to 4-piece) that came from one of the 5303's - whereas one of the A/C batwing Fishbowls had a rear light layout as from a 5301. So there may've been swaps along the way. Maybe the rear doors came from a wrecked 5303?
