Speaking of garages/depots of years past, does the MTA currently use any of these facilities, or have they since been closed?

Let's see . . .
- 146th Street [pic #980] is now the Mother Clara Hale depot.
- Coliseum [pic #787] has since been rebuilt and rebranded as West Farms (not to be confused with the *other* West Farms depot [in pic #798] which has long ago been closed and razed).
- 132nd Street [pic #837] was closed and demolished in the late 1980's, the newer Manhattanville depot built in its place and on the grounds thereof. (It's ironic that where 'OTS' once stood is now called Manhattanville, while the old 'Tee-Yay' depot at 126th Street and Second Avenue had as its farebox code 'MAN' [for Manhattan Bus Division].)

W.B.:

Appreciate this info.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't there a "TUSKEGEE" depot used by the MTA?

Sho' iz. 'Tuskegee Airmen' in point of fact. Formerly known as 100th Street depot ('OHS' code on fareboxes).

Thanks! Very Happy

I was almost positive there was a "TUSKEGEE" garage, but wasn't sure.

A historic and dignified name, to be sure.....

Looking smart in two-tone blue, #3608 is seen here enjoying a well-deserved respite from regular chores at Castleton*, on a sunny day in 1975.........

*I also like that 1950's era light fixture on the garage facade!

I love this "NO RIDERS" sign sported by ol' #2, back in 1974.

Note the "PRCA" sign on the dash (also, looks like the fare box has been removed).......

Re: previous photo of #2:

I also noticed the #2 is now devoid of any "NYCTA/MTA" markings; though the bus is still in the old "Tee-Yay" green, it seems safe to say that #2 is no longer longer in revenue service, now performing some other type of service......

How are annual reports from the previous prior operators in terms of value of information? In particular, would anyone know if the Fifth Avenue Coach Lines' "Annual Report For the Year Ended December 31, 1958" would have any info as to when FACO's #1 - Fifth Avenue route would have been reduced to one franchise trip a day? (I say this because it was one of the routes discontinued at the time the TWU's strike which knocked out FACL and Surface Transit [and led to all their routes being taken over by MaBSTOA] commenced March 1, 1962, and was never resumed under MaBSTOA aegis; it was listed in The New York Times as in "inactive" status at the time of the lead-up to route resumptions.)

Fellows:

This is just the information I was looking for; THANK YOU for taking the time to post here. Wink

BTW: Regarding the photo of Fishbowl #2 that I had posted several responses back, any clue as to what duties the bus was now assigned to, now clearly out of revenue service?

I'm still scratching my head with this one; I do not have the slightest clue, outside of a vague guess that the bus might have been being used by the Parks department?

Again, just a vague guess, here.....

I wonder if that ex-'Tee-Yay' bus in that pic would have been for use within the Parks Department or in conjunction with same.

W.B.:

This, on my part, was only the vaguest of guesses; still, something was just needling me a bit, wondering if maybe the Parks Department might have aquired #2 for reasons as yet unexplained.....

Just wondering if the streetcar barn (here shown during the horse car era in a painting) was ever used as a bus garage in later years.

No location given.........
