When one is "Down Under", "Going Big Red" means traveling via GREYHOUND*.......

*Note that the buses wear florescent striping (and hazard lights) for increased visibility while operating on mining sites.

FLXIBLE "down under"........
In 1950, FLXIBLE-style CLIPPERS were built in Australia by ANSAIR, Pty. Ltd.; following the importation of the first FLXIBLE to ANSAIR in 1948.
The prototype and the first two ANSAIR-built CLIPPERS had small windows.
These were operated by PIONEER TOURS, a part of the ANSAIR operation.
ANSAIR built 131 of these buses between 1950 and 1960; most of these coaches were operated by PIONEER*.
Some of the later models had longer "VISICOACH"-style windows.
All, of course, were right-hand drive.......

*Most of the buses in PIONEER's fleet were British-built models.

In addition to the aforementioned CLIPPERS, this now-defunct Australian company also once operated GMC coaches, including 4104's, 4106's, as well as MCI's........

Just a thought.......
It has long been said that "old GREYHOUND buses never die"; this, at least to Your's Truly, translates into vehicles that were built like the proverbial tank, and, if equipped with caterpillar treads, might well have been so used in some parts of the world!
Seriously, when GREYHOUND operated in the Middle East, I wonder just how much maintenance the MCI's required to be able to function in such harsh conditions (sandstorms, excessive heat, etc.)
It had to be a pretty formidable task to keep "The Hounds" going over there; then again, I am sure many of those same issues hold true with modern bus operations in that part of the world......
