From the Brooklyn Public Library online map collection:
https://mapcollections.brooklynhistory.org/map/travel-around-manhattan-the-bronx-new-york-city-and-westchester-county-new-york-route-map-service-transit-inc-and-westchester-street-transportation-company-inc/
There are many NYC bus and subway maps available at this website.
Many are real collectors' items.

Actually, 1958 - but yeah, very informative.

When the 1962 TWU strike against FACL and ST that led to the creation of " 'stoa" was going on, The New York Times apparently relied on this map for explanations of which routes were out of service as a result, not even accounting for, as but one example, the M-101's change in route description to "Third, Lexington & Amsterdam Avenues," the creation of the short-run branch from 125th to 23d Streets (The Times did that, '2d' and '3d' in those days), or the seasonal-only Bx-50 - Freedomland route. I think their coverage even incorporated the two ex-NYCO Lexington Avenue routes (#3 and #4) that were defunct for nearly two years at that point.
