All:

I have long thought about 5th Avenue Coach Company remaining independent until recent years, and then take over by the MTA (STEINWAY, COMMAND, TRIBORO, etc.)

Had the company remained an independent company, what bus types do you think they might have operated?

METRO?

ORION?

NEOPLAN?

RTS?

Also, would you imagine the Company adding new routes at later dates (or extending existing ones), or curtailing others?

I thought this might interesting to speculate on.......

From their long history, I am confident that they would have stayed with GMC and RTS successor's, until the end....and then probably whatever NYC Bus was using....

As for expansion....they probably would have gotten into some time of Express service from their area's....

As always, appreciate your input! Wink

I agree; I think that that the Company would have stayed with GMC's, and, later, RTS coaches.

One new route I've long thought about was a "through" route, extending beyond Washington Square to City Hall (Park Row) and the Whitehall Street/Battery area.

Again, this is only speculation; another line I could envision is a rush hour- only express serving the Wall St. area........
