Thanks for finding a way to post it, GBL Rebel...

Just to clarify, it is not in Hoboken, but at the Academy (former Body-Rite) garage in Secaucus, next to Peter Pan's garage....
I was there again today, but was in a rush to pick up another bus to bring back to The City....
I'll try to find out more about it next chance I get....

If you click on my link, you will not have to turn sideways to view the bus... Wink

Okay, I was there again today, unfortunately it was while everyone seemed to be out to lunch...
I did take another photo, from the passenger side, and also copied down the serial number, if it can be looked up on some roster...
TDH-5304-442
I also noticed it once did belong to Academy, the old fleet number 1641, was visible...the interior was loaded with parts or whatever...
I'll email the photo to GBL Rebel, if he can post it....

Thanks again, for posting ....one of these days, I'll have to learn how to do it myself... Smile,

If that bus was modified, it would not have much value for "purists".

I don't ever remember seeing one like that from the factory, but someone said they did towards the end of their production.

In any event, yes, I agree....it does look worthy of preservation anyway...

traildriver:

Go to page 7 on the "GENERAL BUSES" board, and you'll see a thread I started several years back: "MYSTERY NEW LOOK IN NEW JERSEY".

This thread started a discussion about the square window New Look I remember years ago, running on the old NHBL #1 (JSQ-Nungessers)

Our old and wise mentor, Mr. Linsky, had posted some pictures in the thread, but the pictures are now gone.

I think there might be photo links as well.

Hope this will give you a little "heads up".......... Wink

Interesting history of that bus...it started out working for PTC in Philly, eh?

And the "ilgrim church" is Pilgrim Church....looks like Academy got it back for some reason....

As for "Hudson Body" in Hoboken...I thought that Hudson Body is in Jersey City on Tonnele Avenue, where ABC Bus now operates...the Academy garage in Secaucus where the bus now sits, is the former Body-Rite company shop. Academy uses about half of it, and Prevost rents out the other half.
That is why I go there, to bring buses there and back for factory upgrades, and warranty work. It's primarily there to do warranty work for NY MTA. It's a lot closer than the main Prevost service center in South Plainfield...

traildriver: Interesting tidbits, here! Wink

As recently as the 80's (last time I was in that area) there was a large bus yard on Tonnelle Avenue (I think this was "HUDSON BUS") in the Jersey City area; I used to see various NHBL buses there, as well as some RED & TAN coaches.

That was where I saw the "three-eyed MACK" (with a small center dash headlight) some 30-odd years back (I also have a thread on that bus on the "GENERAL BUS" board)

I will be most interested in learning more on this interesting coach! Very Happy

I was told by a couple of nybs drivers that they were testing out the three different engines. Also each had a variation of the nybs paint.

1984 GMDD Classic NYBS 1600
http://gallery.bustalk.info/displayimage.php?album=59&pos=70

The wild part about this 3 bus order was they all had different engines. I believe 1600 had the DD 6V92TA, 1601 had the DD 6V71TA and 1602 had the DD 6V71. If I am wrong, then 1602 had the 92 and 1600 had the 71.

As you can see, built by GMDD before the design was sold to MCI, which built the 1988 and 1989 Classics for NYCDOT. You absolutely could see the difference in quality.[/quote]
