This is the back of 1964 NYCTA Flxible new look with batwings... or is that a GM new look in front with the wings and they are just perfectly aligned!

An optical illusion. The other top side (at photo left) had no "batwings." That the bus was 1964 was highlighted by the 3-piece rear window arrangement. Those buses were also what I would call the "not ready for prime time" buses, given their general confinement to outer boroughs Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island (except one of the 5000's that one person swears saw some M15 [First/Second Avenue] service) while key Manhattan (and Bronx) routes operated by MaBSTOA got GM Fishbowls.

P.S. It looks like that Flxible in Brooklyn was running right behind a GM 'batwings' bus.

A little trivia... those "batwings" were ordered out into the streets during the first "big blackout" in 1965, to help provide some street lighting, after their rush hour use ended, IIRC...

Thanks for these pix! While living in Queens all those years I never saw a batwing Flx in service.
