PS's #29 subway-surface streetcars (as well as the replacement buses) terminated their outbound runs at the old Caldwell loop; DE CAMP's #22 (JSQ-Caldwell) line also called here (note buses at right of streetcar), as well as the buses of MOUNTAIN COACHES' #144 to Newark.

I remember this old terminal well 50-odd years ago, on homebound #22 trips after visiting my aunt and uncle in West Orange.

I had read long ago that this former loop area is no longer used for transit.

So much transit history here.....

Several radio stations used various vehicles when they did remote broadcasts as this radio station did......Slightly off-topic but long gone WGSM-AM (740) at one time had a funky motor home with a red roof and skirt with white framing around its windows. That vehicle was last seen by me about 20 years ago on an empty lot on Atlantic Avenue in East New York. It was visible from the LIRR Flatbush Branch.

Here's an interesting thought......

Had PSNJ (or at least TNJ) still been in business back in the 80's/90's, it would seem that they would have placed orders for RTS coaches, to replace older equipment.

It would have been quite interesting, to say the least, to see RTS's in updated PS livery, during the 1980's and 1990's........

RTS 4675 on B38 by sphoto33, on Flickr

This seems to be at Hoyt Street. I wonder whether a public phone remains there.

Where was the Green Lines garage?

Notice how easily the destination signs can be read.

No GBL RTS buses made MTA colors. One MCI Classic did. GBL garages are in Rockaway on Rockaway Beach Blvd and Jamaica on Rockaway Blvd outside JFK Airport.

Quick RTS questions:

When the MTA ordered its first RTS buses, were the coaches purchased to replace the ill-fated GRUMMANS, or were they purchased to retired older equipment? (GM/Flex)

Also, how well recieved were they by drivers/passengers?

Thanks in advance....

The first RTS's shared the road with the Grumman's. They were the future to the New Look's, both GMC and Flxible.

Thanks.

I now remember seeing them on the streets with the GRUMMANS, as well as the Fishbowls and Flex New Looks.

It certainly made for a diverse and interesting fleet....
