This is Fifth Avenue Coach number 2500 after rebuilding to the legal length of 40 feet serving as a demo in Brooklyn for the Board of Transportation.
This bus would serve as the prototype for the GM TDH 5101 of which the the BoT ordered 400.
Built in 1939, this bus went to Fifth Avenue Coach and later it was relettered to Chicago Motor Coach where it served as the prototype for the GM TDH-5502.
Prior to its rebuilding it was known as the TDH-5501 and later as the TDH-5401.
It ended its revenue service in 1968 when it was destroyed in a garage fire while serving in the Westchester Street Transportation fleet.
