With absolutely no disrespect intended toward our good friends living to the North, it is very interesting to note that today (and probably for quite a few years already) the entire MTA Bus fleet consists of buses built by Canadian bus manufacturers.
Many of us aging Baby Boomers recall that not that many years ago, the NYCT and MaBSTOA bus fleets consisted of GM and Flxible products (and older bus historians will recall the days when Macks, Twins and ACF's and Whites also graced NYC area bus rosters).
Hats off to the Canadian bus builders who make products that clearly can handle tough North American road, weather and traffic conditions!

We all know how brutal the winter's are in the norther tier of the United States. When you consider the fact that Canada's southern border experience the same winter weather and worse the further north you travel, Canada's buses have to meet and exceed the performance to survive their prolonged winters.

Also consider the fact that there is no Interstate system in Canada and most roads outside the main metro areas are two lanes at best with longer stretches between towns - especially the provinces west of Ontario.

It make great sense to have Canadian built buses coming into the United States than the other way around considering their quality built into them to deal with all sorts of weather and road conditions.
