During a family trip to Canda back in 1973, I can remember happily viewing PREVOST coaches of assorted vintages and models.

The first I recall were those operated by SOMERSET in the late 1960's (these were the CHAMPION buses); these were the first PREVOST coaches to operate for a domestic carrier.

Not able to get about, I am curious as to how popular PREVOST coaches are with American operators today (2015)

I know, in the past, a good number of American operators have used them; another older PREVOST model I always liked was the LE MIRAGE.

The timeless "PANORAMIQUE" still reminds me of a 4106!

Appreciate any input.....thank you in advance.... Wink

This 1968 photo shows SOMERSET's first CHAMPION (#9111) crrossing the border from Canada into the United States.

KRUG's Truck & Bus Import Corporation was responsible for this sale in the spring of 1968.......

Interesting PREVOST gallery; it would seem that PREVOSTS are far more commonplace here in the States than I had previously thought! Shocked :

I can't say for sure, but Prevost coaches are either first or second in sales today...right up there with MCI or perhaps even ahead....
Greyhound has bought a lot more X-3's than D4505's....
Lately even New York's MTA has gone from MCI's to X-3's for Express routes.
My employer, Adirondack Trailways, is not buying MCI's...only Prevost H-3's and Van Hool's....

When it comes to motorhomes, Prevost conversion's by the top coach-builer's far outnumber anything else.

Heck, even our President rides in a Prevost purchased by the Secret Service... Wink

I always liked Prevost and Van Hool coaches. Unfortunately I never got to drive either one. Just GMs and MCIs.

The Prevost XL-II's and the X-3's are a pleasure to drive....perhaps the nicest for a driver since the GM PD-4106, (My personal all-time fave), IMHO...
The Prevost H3's are not bad either, but not as good as those....

The Van Hool CO2045 I am not fond of....

Fellows:

Appreciate your input....many thanks!

During our family trip to Canada back in the summer of 1973, I certainly found PREVOST coaches to be quite "exotic"; however, certain models had the familiar aura of some of our domestic buses.

The handsome "LE NORMAND" reminded me of a beefy 4104, while the "PANORAMIQUE" clearly had echoes of a 4106!

I have seen photos of the transit coaches that PREVOST delivered to BRITISH COLUMBIA HYDRO in 1965; clearly, the New Looks inspired the appearance of these handsome buses.....

More of Canadian/US "kissin' cousins":

In William A. Luke's excellent work on PREVOST coaches, there are a number of photos showing city/suburban buses that bear more than a passing resemblence to BRILL coaches.

The first to operate the Prevost "SUBURBAN" of 1949 were "DIAMOND LINES", of Edmonton, Alberta.

The first such coach was the Prevost "SUBURBAN" of 1949; several Canadian operators once operated Prevost's look-alike BRILL buses.

Their windows, also, were clearly BRILL-inspired......
