It's a conversion, and the current owner knows nothing other than it's a GMC...and he keeps referring to it as an old "street car", which I take to mean "transit".
Flying out Saturday to look at it. It's been sitting for years, but all the bones are there and the hard work is done. I've taken to google, which has got me to the 5103 "old-look", but can't find a whole lot of info. I'm guess ing not a lot of these survived(?).
Any info or tips would be great:

This bus is too short to be a TDH-5103, which was a forty-foot model. From the size, I would guess it's a 32- or 36-passenger model. The lack of slanted windshields would suggest this bus may date back to the early 1940's. But the windshields may have been modified when the bus was converted to a motor home. A rare bus in any event.

You're right, I didn't realize that all 5103's were 40 footers. I'll know more tomorrow morning. I had a 72 5307 that I was planning on converting, but ended up selling because of a move to a new home. I don't have room for this one at the moment, but am planning on building a shop this summer and didn't want to miss out. I'm certain he has considerably more into this bus than the asking price of $6500.

Just got a look at this bus in person. It's a 1951 TDH 3612. I'll post more on it after I pick it up in a few weeks.

It may well be a TDH 3612 with a changed windshield since Yellow Coach discontinued the straight windshield in December, 1940. The slanted windshield was continued by GM when they acquired Yellow Coach. Did you happen to get the serial number when you were there?

The man I bought it from is the one who did the conversion. The windshields were brought forward and the right side was made into a full size with the 45 degree corner slant removed. The serial number is 841.

That was one of eleven purchased by South Carolina Electric & Gas of Charleston, SC. Delivered in Jan. and Feb., 1951. If they numbered them in order, it would have been their fleet number 314.
