My name is Joe Piper, I own Scenicrusier #743. I am trying to convert from 24V Positive ground system to a 12V negative ground system. The alternator shop tells me to mount a new alternator and bypass the old generator, then replace the starter with a 12V neg ground starter.
Question: what are we getting into with the lights and solenoid?
Thank you for your help in the past and now.

Can I ask the reason you are wanting to do this conversion? |

Ditto on the question from GBL Rebel. I would assume that the reason the manufacturer used a 24 volt system was for a more heavy duty electrical system. You may run into problems with other parts of the system running on 12 volts. |

My issue is the 12volt starter draws more amps then the 24volt. And I would like a bit of clarity as to a positive ground or positive ground on the generator field. However I am not familiar with the scenicrusier, I would imagine it is not to different from what I have worked on. |

You might want to contact National Bus Trader (magazine):
http://www.busmag.com/
They may have someone over there who has familiarity with Scenicruisers. |
