There's a rumor going around on NYCT fourms that Novabus had already built 50 new LFS's and they are going to be numbered #8100 and higher. Can anyone confirm this, because the pilot buses aren't due until October and there could be no why Nova did this unless very little has changed since the 2011 order. |

I am not sure why this may have happened, but I would assume either or both of the following scenarios may have happened:
1. The LFS specs for the pilot buses have proven to be reasonably acceptable and don't require any immediate major revisions.
2. NYCT/MTAB is aware that the large number of RTS's and Orion 5's procured in 1998-1999 are aging pretty rapidly and will need either immediae replacement or (as the subway guys say) "GOH" (general overhaul).
Time will tell... |

It seems like just a 'Somebody told me...' rumor. |

I suppose that we'll find out eventually. Hopefully if true, this will be the new style "Smartbus" LFS. I hated the 2011 order's specs. |
