NYO, Mr. "L",

John/All:

For some strange reason which I cannot fathom, it seems that only AOL users (like myself) have little or no problem with angelfire links.

Not being computer savvy, I have no idea why this is.

I know, from past postings, others have copy and pasted the links, and gotten around the problem that way.

As I've admitted before, even that is beyond my limited computer knowledge.

This indeed can be a bit annoying, especially when you want to share rare images with your fellow forum members......

Just imagine how many heads turned when this gleaming six-axle behemoth made its debut, well over a half-century ago.......

Back in the day, such a classic image was a commonplace sight in cities and towns across the USA.

Like the SCENICRUISERS, the EAGLES were sleek, distinctive, and so much a deeply interwoven component to American life......

Sure would be great if those two classic buses were still with us today, instead of long ago being recycled into razor blades and soda cans.....

The problem with Angelfire is that it prevents me from viewing what my friend NYO is posting. I learned long ago when we both were at BTCo net that no one does a better job of digging in depth into interesting subjects than NYO. If it's out there he will find it.
As with this topic he has stirred memories of my days of being stationed in Louisiana in 1972 and using Trailways to travel anywhere. They were the only way to travel in that state whether it was to head to New Orleans, Shreveport or Houston.

ECA,

At least those grand old coaches could be recycled into something useful but what do you do with the square white buckets of styrofoam on wheels that they call 'buses' today?

Best regards,

WCA

John:

I truly thank you for the kind compliments.....all I can say is, "I try!" Wink

As I've been a bus (and transit/rail) fan for nearly 6 decades now, any research I do today is a labor of love, a direct result of all those years of enjoying the intoxicating romance rubber and rails!

Again, thank you for the kind words, my friend...... Smile

Mr. "L"

Well, you COULD recycle today's buses into any of the following:

Styrafoam picnic coolers

Popcorn/peanuts (the variety used in packing packages)

Egg cartons

Various kinds of arts and crafts supplies

As Mom always said, "Waste not, want not"......... Wink

".....and a great Eagle then soareth overhead....."

In this classic scene from 1981, we see ex-PSNJ Fishbowl P777 inbound at Weehawken for the PABT, while an outbound Eagle dashes by overhead on the Helix.

This is a timeless view that I've known quite well throughout my nearly 60 years upon this turbulent, spinning sphere (look VERY closely; you will spot the nose of a 4104 just visible behind the rear of the TNJ Fishbowl)

The big, gas-guzzlin' "Dee-Troit Special" autos further date this picture.

Man, if only we could go back in time.......
