A Chicago Queen on fire!
The location is Howard and Sheridan. This is not my favorite type of bus view but I had to share this incredible scene.

MaBSTOA 15,
Apparently your Chicago Queen Mary wasn't the only one to burn at the stake so to speak.
Shown below at Chicago's Lincoln Park on October 13th.1937 in the aftermath of what must have been an inferno is fleet # 106 - a 1936 72 passenger Yellow Coach modeled as a 720 operating for the Chicago Motor Coach Company.
When these buses caught fire, presumably from gasoline leaks in the engine compartments, their composite bodies of thin aluminum panels covering plywood sheets were all the tinder that was needed for total destruction in a matter of moments.
Fortunately, all 62 passengers aboard escaped without injury.
New York's Fifth Avenue Coach ran the same model buses but I know of no incursions by fire having ever been recorded.
Photo taken by the Chicago Bureau of Acme News Pictures and is available through 'Historic Images' at eBay as item # 371019240938.
