Mr. "L":
Thank you, Sir, for the kind words....much appreciated!
Though no Bedford VALS in these classic old views you just posted (thanks!) they nonetheless depict a long-lost era of London buses.
To most non-bus enthusiasts, I'm sure that to them, "a double decker is a double decker", when regarding London buses.
One need only pick up a book that deals with vintage London double deckers, and they will quickly realize that "all double deckers are NOT alike"!
Guy Arabs, LT's, RT's, Routemasters, Daimlers, Leylands.....not to mention trolleybuses.....a rich Mulligan stew of classic double deckers, indeed!
Buses like the Bedford VAL further illustrates the rich and colorful variety of buses and coaches that once operated throughout the length and breadth of Great Britain......certainly, one could never be bored with so much variety rolling by in a steady parade!

This circa-1960's era photo of a Bedford VAL at rest gives us a good view of this now-classic coach.
Sleek, stylish, and certainly futuristic in appearance, this coach takes us back to another era in bus/coach building, when modern equipment was indeed pleasing in appearance, and not resembling an oversized shoe box or mutated insect......

In discussing the Bedford VAL, mention must be made of the Harrington LEGIONNAIRE.
This was another coach body for the twin steering axle Bedford VAL chassis.......
