frankie,
Your buses shown again below are both 1934/35 41 passenger Yellow Coaches modeled as 718's and, depending on the location which is unfamiliar to me, would be operated only by New York City Omnibus Corporation, Madison Avenue Coach Company or Eighth Avenue Coach Corporation (or any combination thereof).
Note that commonly owned Fifth Avenue Coach Company never ran the 718 model.
Just taking a wild guess, I would say that the photo might have been taken either in the meat packing district or somewhere on the west side judging by trucks parked across sidewalks at loading docks.
Also seen in the image just passing the loading dock and heading toward the camera is one of the city's hundreds of 1933 Autocar Model 'U' street flushers with its snow plow in the engaged position (photo of a facsimile in close-up also attached).
Regards,
Mr. 'L'

Here we see a line up of Fifth Avenue Coach buses (pre-MaBSTOA) at 45th Street and 5th Avenue...
In the Lead is 2615 on route 5. Following we see TD-4506, TDH-4509 and yes a TDH-5301. The photo is circa 1960-early 1962.
Love those sanitation garbage cans they used on 5th Avenue in those days!
Don't miss the green and white Checker. Colorful taxis prior to the ugly yellow fleet of today.

What a wonderful opportunity to just go back to this moment, sit on the corner and spend all day photographing buses after buses. Here we have old looks of various vintages along with the advent of the new looks, not to mention other oddballs that were still in revenue service.

We're looking North from 121st. Street on Manhattan's Eighth Avenue on a sunny December 27th. 1947 afternoon as we see the aftermath of the 'Blizzard of 47' that finally abated following a twenty-four hour siege.
Everything in the image is frozen in time (not a pun) as no less than a dozen buses are left abandoned in the street with most of which being GM Old Looks operated by New York City Omnibus affiliate Eighth Avenue Coach Corporation.
I wonder how long it took to untangle the mess and return to some form of normalcy?

Another New York snow scene…
Here we see the mid-section of a Surface Transportation Mack C-45 #17??... I remember these buses reeking of diesel smell

Some things never change… The men are mesmerized by the antics of the bus crews trying to dig the FACCO open top out of the snow. It looks like they are going to be late for work… The open top double decker in the middle of the scene is number 464.

Same here in the Midwest! However, I'd rather see snow in these photos than real life.
And believe me, when you and I are sweating in the middle of a July heatwave, looking at the pictures here will make you wish for it.

Quite sure this is a pre-war view. The U.S. Navy and/or the Coast Guard did use that type of hat for awhile.

MaBSTOA 15,
Another great snow scene!
You are correct - it is definitely prewar!
Fleet # 6, operating for Madison Avenue Coach Company, looks fairly new and the Checker Cab model A at the corner and its ilk saw the end of service by about 1941.
Maybe the Sir Galahad saving the lady in the picture was just practicing for the famous Life Magazine 'Sailor Kiss' in the middle of Broadway on V.J. Day! as seen below.

I think that of all the photos of 'New York Buses in the Snow' on this thread none captures the sheer ferocity of the 'Blizzard of 47' as does what appears below;
Seen sometime during the evening of December 26th. 1947 at the confluence of Remsen and Utica Avenues on the then #17 line in Brooklyn is a 1938 35 passenger ACF modeled as an H-17-S operating for the City of New York Board of Transportation but originally purchased as one of 75 likenesses numbered between 800 and 874 by the Brooklyn Bus Corporation.
It is unclear as to whether the passengers, shown fighting wind gusts filled with icy pellets approaching 50 mph., were trying to board the bus or abandon it which was not an uncommon sight on that night.
