Seen in the Palm Beaches of southeastern Florida sometime post 1956 is fleet # 132 - a 1940 36 passenger Yellow Coach Model TG-3603 and one of fifteen likenesses numbered between 131 and 145 purchased used from St. Louis Public Service Company (SLPS) by the Florida Cities Bus Company of West Palm Beach.

The Yellow Model TG-3603 was a very very special bus - in fact, so special that it earned its own exclusive model number when eighty one including a demonstrator were built for SLPS.

Not happy with just another bus and with many feelings of nostalgia for their fleet of PCC cars, engineers at SLPS designed something that would be reminiscent of the past while satisfying what was becoming a trend toward a more versatile and economical mode of transportation.

Of note on #132 is the grossly exaggerated angle of the windshield with special wiper arms to match the depth, large trolley headlamps, an almost cartoon like frame around the windshield, a simulation of a trolley lamp (with wings) below the windshield and special 'wind up' passenger windows much like automobiles of the era - the wider space between the passenger and standee glasses was also a simulation.

Also of note is the driver's custom built side sash which included a sliding opening for toll dispensing.

A brief and interesting history of Florida Cities is seen in the lower frame.

Photos are part of the January 2000 issue of Motor Coach Today which is available at eBay as item # 370957126036 thanks to '4509bus'.
