The "MEET YOU AT THE FAIR" 7-UP placard on the front of this handsome "New Look" MACK more than dates this wonderfully nostalgic scene from 1964.

These MACKS were truly eye-catching and handsome!

What was the disposition of the Yonkers New Look MACKS after they were retired?

I have a hunch that several went to a now-defunct New Jersey company, "BLUE & WHITE"; this property was the only one in my general area that I can recall operating the type.

I am also leaning towards B&W here, as I remember (I took a few photos as well, back at the B&W lot/garage in North Bergen in 1974) as there were also a couple of "standard" ex-Yonkers Macks, long-OOS being used for parts.

Again, I am not 100% sure that the "New Look" Macks came from Yonkers, but, it would seem that this was indeed the case.

Appreciate any info!

Thanks.....

"NYO"

NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629,

I can't tell you what the final disposition on Yonkers # 163 was but I can give you the following information.

# 163 - a 1959 Mack Model C-49-DT and one of five likenesses numbered between 161 and 165 were delivered to Yonkers Railroad Company at Yonkers, New York in July of that year.

Another five of the same model numbered 700 to 704 were received simultaneously by commonly owned Triple Cities Traction Company of Binghamton, New York and were subsequently moved to Yonkers.

To call this Mack model a New Look would be an exaggeration when thinking in terms of what GM and Flxible had to offer as such.

Actually, the only 'New Look' about it was an updated front end designed by Niagara Frontier Transit System (NFT) and was available as an option on Macks under a licensing agreement with NFT.

Only 191 of this option were built and only in Mack's final year of production and included 160 to NFT and five to Long Island's Bee Line (shown below).

Mr. "L":

Once again, THANK YOU!

I now know more than I did at this time yesterday!<G>

Appreciate this info, as always.

I always wondered at the "New Look" designation myself; in fact, the first I ever heard of it was about ten years ago, when I purchased a copy of the Mack bus photo archive (I believe this was a Luke work).

To me, this new design was simply an attractive "update"!

Recall, also, there was a CTA Flex/Twin, that was "updated" with a Flex New Look front end.

Of course, this bus was one-of-a-kind......
