According to the above link, Suffolk terminated its contract with Alert Coach Lines in 1985 to operate the S1 because the county became dissatisfied with Alert Coach. Almost the same reason why Alert Coach lost the contract to operate the S40 near ten years before.

Suffolk then awarded EBT the contract to operate the S1 with a temporary certificate classified as an experiment because it constituted a test of "a new entrant in terms of quality and cost"

There was no mention of any other routes being effected by this matter.
