Pictured standing at rest in an unknown section of northern New Jersey and signed for the # 60 Raritan route is fleet # 3213 - a 1938 Yellow Coach Model 1204 and one of 159 likenesses numbered between 3200 and 3358 operating for Public Service Coordinated Transport of Newark, New Jersey.

The light duty 24 passenger Yellow Model 1204 (which was in answer to Ford's 1937 introduction of a purpose built 25 passenger bus) featured a 216 cubic inch Chevrolet truck engine mounted transversely at the rear and a 146 inch wheelbase with a body at 83 inches wide.

These coaches were ideal for low volume routes and as feeders to main trunk lines and 600 were built as 1204's between 1938 and 1940 with an additional 365 built as TG-24's between 1940 and 1942.

New Jersey Public Service was one of Yellow's largest customers and, along with The Greyhound and Omnibus Corporations, put Yellow on the map with their own engineers assisting Yellow's in making buses designed for each of their specific needs.

Of note on # 3213 are the cord operated semaphore directional signals, the company's trademark badge and wings under the windshield and the single bumper height fog lamp which came in very handy in piercing through the heavy evening mists that are common to parts of the Garden State.
