An Overview of Yellow/GM Coaches Operated by NYC Companies pre 1960
Note; listings only include equipment bought new and does not reflect returned demonstrators – dates in some cases are approximate.
Green Bus Lines – Jamaica, New York;
4506’s in 1946 (unevenly divided between Green and its Subsidiary Manhattan and Queens Bus Corporation), 4507’s in 1947 and 1949, 4509’s in 1950, 4512’s in 1954, 5104’s in 1952 and 5106’s in 1959 (note; company was the only Queens based operator with 4506’s and the only city wide operator with 4512’s – an oddity considering the popularity of the 4512).
Triboro Coach Corporation – Jackson Heights, New York;
740’s in 1939, 4507’s in 1948 and 1949, 4509’s in 1950 and 1952, 5104’s in 1952 and 5106’s in 1957.
Steinway Omnibus Corporation – Flushing, New York
4507’s in 1947 and 4509’s in 1949 and 1951.
Queens/Nassau Transit Lines – Flushing, New York
4509’s in 1951, 5104’s in 1952 and 5106’s in 1954, 1956, 1958 and 1959.
Jamaica Buses, Inc. – Baisley Park, New York;
5106’s in 1953, 1955 and 1958 and 5108’s in 1958.
East Side and Comprehensive Omnibus Corporations – Manhattan, NY;
4506’s – 1946 (three for each company).
Surface Transportation System of New York – Bronx, New York;
746’s in 1937 and 1939, 4502’s in 1940 and 1941, 4506’s in 1946, 4507’s in 1946, 1947 and 1948, 5104’s in 1953, 5106’s in 1954 and 1959.
New York City Omnibus Corporation (includes Madison and Eighth Avenue affiliates) – Manhattan, New York;
