Ok, from another website...CBS Lines and Inter-County are closing (or at least shutting down Suffolk Transit operations).

The routes from CBS Lines will be moved to Suffolk Bus and Inter County routes will be moved to EBT. Personally, I see Suffolk Bus (Bay Shore) getting some of those routes from Inter County (like the S54, S57, S63, 2A and 2B).

Anyways, I assume this is a union thing so what's the story?

The Inter-County Coach could be a mistake because I heard that Inter-County was receiving EBT's routes

The county didn't renew its contract with CBS Lines, I'm not sure about the Inter-County - EBT thing.

Each union does have its own union

Suffolk Bus Corp - TWU 252
CBS Lines - ????
Inter-County - Teamsters Local
Sunrise Coach - Teamsters Local
HJ - ?????
EBT - Some small named one that I can't remember

That makes MORE sense to me since E.B.T. has a lot of School Buses. So I would assume that this move would take place in January? If so, then just expect buses from those depots to be moved to their NEW home.

Suffolk County ask for RFP's (request for proposals) back in the spring for all the Suffolk County Transit routes. The proposal took all the existing county routes (served by six different companies) and placed them in four (4) service groups. Routes operated by EBT and ICMC were combined into service group #1. Routes operated by Suffolk Bus are service group #2. Routes operated by CBS Lines, service group #3. Routes operated by Sunrise Coach Lines and Hampton Jitney, service group #4.

Yeah, Suffolk Bus will get CBS's routes and buses around new year's.

I don't know about EBT-Inter County since I've heard one thing and someone heard another. I would assume any transfer between the two would happen around New Year's as well.

That doesn't sound like what the county agreed upon following that law suit, unless they quietly changed the agreement.

Of course, this roster is NOT accurate as I will leave the updating of the roster to "S60 SmithHaven Mall". I bascailly just added the equipment together. This is just pure speculation BUT it's fun to do!

No the 5A, S56,S58,S60,S62,S71,S76, and S110 will be run out of Suffolk Transportation's New Coram Yard which is located at NYS 112 and Old Middle Country Road. (United Bus Corps yard) http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Suffolk+Transportation+Service,+Inc+in+Coram&hl=en&prmd=imvns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1024&bih=475&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl Last year Suffolk Transportation took over the United Bus Corp yard as well as their school bus contracts The Port Jefferson SD (which use to belong to Coram Bus Service) and Mini-Buses for Comsewogue SD.

As for everything else, as far as I heard it is correct.

The apparent successful proposer for service group # 1 (routes currently operated by EBT and ICMC) is EBT, not ICMC.

Huh, I guess the person who told the person I heard it from must not want to believe that they could be out of a job. I guess that means that 5053 will be going home again.

I was on the S20 and the driver was talking about this very issue. I got the impression that EBT was taking over the Intercounty runs.

Its going to be weird seeing EBT as Operator of the S54, S57, and S63. EBT will now have a route going to all four malls. Walt Whitman(S1,S23,S29,S55), South Shore(2A,2B), Sunrise (S20,S33), and Smith Haven Mall (S57,S63)

What's going to be weird is not seeing ANY Suffolk Transit buses at Inter-County anymore. Also, I assume that E.B.T. is much bigger and can hold all of those buses along with the current school buses.

Wow. Looks like Suffolk Bus is dominating. Three yards, huh? Well, that should make things easier.
