I wonder the origin of the name Gillig. Because of the all-caps use in the history on the company site, I wonder whether it is an acronym. |

I believe Gillig is the last name of the founders of the company. |

The Gillig brothers - Leo and Chester took over their father's (Jacob) carriage and wagon shop in San Francisco and started producing pleasure boats and heavy trucks in 1920. Their first school bus was built in 1932 and their first transit style flat front school bus was built in 1937.
