Bob,
Very interesting and concise roster - another great compilation by Alan Bromberger!
Of particular notice to me are the ex NYCTA 1948 GMC's. Not coincidentally (I'm sure), Green Line, who had already acquired Triboro, also bought three similar buses from the same batch (their first such purchase of anything used since the early thirties).
It would seem as though the city might have had a 'fire sale' to more rapidly change over to the then updated 'paired window' old looks.

Bob,
I've been examining part 1 of the above Triboro Historical Roster and have found one error and two omissions;
The error; The fifteen TDH 5104's (1181 to 1195) were delivered in September of 1952.
These buses were part of a thirty unit order of which the other fifteen went to Green Bus Lines as #'s 351 to 365 (ser# 0001 to 0030).
The omissions; I don't see two orders for TDH 4509's numbered 1151 to 1165 (delivered in January of 1951) and 1171 to 1175 (delivered in February of 1952).
Here is an excellent photo of a Triboro 4509 at Rockaway Playland:
All my facts and figures have been verified by the Ohio Museum of Transportation.

One historical addendum......Bus 743 from the 1974 delivery of New Looks was donated to the NYPD and renumbered #3301 from Highway District # 3. It was kept at the police station on the north side of the GCP near Francis Lewis Blvd until shortly after 9/11/01 when it was sold to a Hassidic Bus Company.
I think that bus 744 was sold directly to the company that provides service to B&H camera. I believe that Trevor Logan has a picture of 744 in service
I have pictures of 743 in residence at the police station but don't know how to insert them into a post. |

Hart Bus,
How well I remember the boys at the old 'Motor Cycle 3' (Grand Central Parkway) - but that's another subject with a lot of stories!
I found what might be another omission in the TCC roster; I have a color picture of ACF # 923 which is not listed (undoubtedly from the same late thirties group starting with 924).
The front of this bus was modified to include the 'GM' wings and logo over the radiator, a 'Thermo Matic' GM air intake over the destination sign and a typical '4509' heavy chromium bumper.
It appears as though the bus had just gone through a complete 'G.O.' and has the paint scheme of the 4509 above.
This could well have been a preserved bus because in the same picture across the street is a Triboro '5300' class which would put the date at least at 1960!
I'll try to e-mail the photo over to Ripta42 to insert here.
Mr. Linsky

I've never seen RTS T8H-203's at Triboro before. When were they scrapped or retired? |

630-636 were transferred to Green Lines in 1994. All were probably retired shortly after the delivery of the 1994 TMC RTSes.

Did the Triboro RTS 03's ever get retrofitted or did they always have Slope Back? |

I read somewhere on the internet that Green Lines RTS 03 630-1 ex-Triboro RTS 03 630 sat at the Green Bus Lines garage in 1999-2000. Was that true? |
