Numerous NYCTA buses from the 1960's appear to have been equipped with "parking lot heaters".
These heaters used hoses to circulate hot coolant into the cooling systems of buses parked outdoors during cold weather.
This technology definitely predated the use of of electric immersion heaters.
I'm not certain when this equipment first was used, and when it was discontinued.
I believe that many TA New Looks (both GM & Flxible) had these devices.
I believe most (or all) MaBSTOA buses were not so equipped.
Can anyone shed more light on this subject?
