I have a Johnson 4 barrel change carrier (Patent # 1465409) I used as a driver with Queens Transit Corp. (College Point NY) many years ago. It's still in good shape although I would like to be able to tear it down and clean it up. Does anyone know or can direct me to a site that could explain how to take the plates out.
Also if anyone can recommend a site or location that chromes items.
Thanking you in advance......... Question

Hi Hank, welcome to BusTalk!
Perhaps you might want to try GFI, the modern successor to Johnson; their website is here: http://www.gfigenfare.com/Home/siteMap.html
By the way, I had lived in Electchester Queens for 26 years, and I have many fond memories of riding many QTC buses (especially the Q65A, hence my handle).

Hank,

I had a Johnson (that I thought was a McGill- but it's a lot of years ago).

I do remember that in order to adjust the plates for the delivery of desired number of coins, you had to depress the handle of the chamber first.

I also remember that if the plates were in any way warped (usually from dropping the machine) the plates became very difficult to adjust.

Hope that helps you.

BTW; welcome aboard.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'
