Looks as though this Panama job could have been built by the same people as was the 'shoebox' in the image attached;
While we're at it, a question; why is it that the first items always cannibalized from buses on their way to the crusher are the headlights and their sockets?
Enjoy,
Mr. 'L'

Mr, "L":
MANY THANKS for posting this one!
WOW!
Easy to see what bus is the "odd one out" in that sad, but fascinating old photo!
Something about that bus seems very vaguely familiar......it looks like something I MAY have seen in the past, but, am not sure.
Wonder who built this one?
Gar Wood built some strange-looking coaches eons ago.........I don't know why, but, the more I look at this bus, the more it reminds me of an experimental streamlined auto from the 1930's.......
At any rate, THANK YOU for posting this pic!
John
PS:
Agreed!
It seems as though just about every old photo you come across of old buses waiting to be scrapped, you'll find their headlights already gone....

I guess its time to bring out my special Mack Model C-50 for an airing.
This 'rail motor car' was a genuine bus built by Mack for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in 1951 for use only on tracks.
While # 10 does feature sliding windows ala a 'Bingham Class Mack', the transoms do not open as did the Colonel's.
I believe their were nine of them at one time and the model designation was 'FCD" (the initials of the then president of the railroad).
Regards,
Mr. 'L'

Probably because they're the most easily reusable items on the bus. |
