They say (or I say) that old GM Diesels never die - they just fade away!
Well, if you happen to be in the vicinity of Easton, Ohio (I'm told it's in the Columbus area) you might just happen upon an 'Old Look' GM bus cemetery that it's caretakers have aptly dubbed 'Rust in Peace'.
I haven't the faintest notion as to the pedigree of the buses except to say that they all appear to be square window jobs and feature ThermoMatic equipment which would date them no earlier then mid 1946 and no later than 1949.
Since the photo was taken in 2004 it might be safe to say that they may still be hanging around and would be a real treat to see.
Photo thanks to Flickr.

WCA:
I wonder if they all were from the same company, somewhere in the area of the rust bowl. They all seem to have white roofs and yellow bodies until the rust got them. They one with the gray front in the middle might have a coat of gray primer.

No one asked me, but... The dominating, fading yellow and white hints at past work on N C L properties?
They can't all be Rosa Parks coaches!

A Correction;
The buses are or were located in Eaton, Ohio - a small town in the south west corner of the state not far from Dayton.
BTW; there's probably enough usable parts on the ten pictured buses to make one good one!

While on the subject of bus bone yards, I came across a photo of another discarded Reading Bus Company (Pa.) TDH 4507 numbered 824 (below) and originally purchased in 1948 by Triboro Coach Corporation of Jackson Height, New York.
I have several other photos of these buses both from Green Line and Triboro in operation for Reading and beyond that at their grave sight but the photo below came with a very interesting caption.
# 824 and others still exist and the owner lists his email as a place to contact for more information on them.
BTW; the 'paired window' front bumper was originally added by Triboro to all of its 4507's.

I drove that bus, and I don't look so hot anymore either. |
