Here is some information and pictures of my bus....

There were 113 TDH-3301 buses made; this bus is the second last one built. Of the 113 TDH-3301 buses built, only 20 were imported new to Canada. It is unknown if any were imported as used buses. 6000 is the only known surviving TDH-3301 in Canada.

Originally delivered in August 1971 to The City of Nelson Transit System (B.C., Canada) as their bus number 118. After surviving a garage fire on April 26, 1975, 118 was acquired by the newly formed unified provincial fleet in B.C. 118 was repaired and renumbered as 6000. It was the first and only “baby” New Look bus in the provincial fleet and the last bus the City of Nelson purchased as the province now supplied their buses through BC Transit.

6000 was retired from service in 1989. It was stored in Victoria until 1993 when a historical group stepped in and acquired the bus for preservation; BC Transit has a policy that sees retired buses only sold as scrap or for “other transportation uses” so this was quite an accomplishment. It remained at the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society’s “Heritage Acres” park for 10 years until it was sold to another collector. I have had 6000 since August 2009. The bus is in original operating condition, including the Toro-Flow diesel engine.

What a great-looking little bus! Good luck with it.

Shorty 30-foot versions of regular transit buses buses are so cute!

These critters were rare as hens teeth, and most had problems. For some reason, the Toro-Flow diesels were unreliable and tended to try and self-destruct.

That is one beautiful example of the model, though! Thanks for sharing.
