This is from 1950 and it mentions how Adelwerth and a partner want to run a route under the name The Blue Line and the route was to run from the Brookhaven-Riverhead town line on NYS 25 to NYS 25 and Peconic Ave.

Would HC have obtained a yard nearby to service the route? Heck of a deadheading from Huntington to provide service.

I would have assumed they would obtained a yard or maybe rented space or a yard from someone else. The Town Line (I assume the Brookhaven-Riverhead town line) on 25 was very popular. HCC was the fourth company to apply for a route that ended at the Town Line on 25.

If I was a driver who lived near the Huntington yard and was assigned to the route, I wouldn't be too happy about the daily commute to work.

From the meeting on December 5, 1961. HCC asked to run a route from Greenport through the Town of Riverhead to Huntington Station

Oh an correction on the above post of HCC, it was from October 3, 1961 meeting, not 1962.

This is from the November 3, 1961 issue of the Long Island Advance which talks about the the rail to bus route from Greenport to Huntington Station, which was granted to Huntington Coach Corp. Also mentioned is a company called Long Island Transit, Inc from Greenport which had their franchise extended 60 days.

Apparently Long Island Transit had something to do with Sunrise Coach Lines and Quinn Bus Line/Coram Bus Service since both the Article lists Robert Brown (Owner of Sunrise Coach Lines) and John Archambault (Quinn's Bus Line, Coram Bus Service) as President and Vice President. So maybe it was some short of Joint Venture or maybe Mr. Archambault was part of LI Transit then left and took over Quinn's Bus Line and Coram Bus Service.

Here is a photo from 1970 of what I believe is a bus from EBT, Inc.

I have no idea what the Suffolk State School in Melville is.

The sign is interesting as it says Copiague - Farmingdale- Wyandanch and under that Suffolk State School.

S-60 To Smith Haven Mall. take note re Leigh's Transportation

In this wintry early sixties scene at the company's facility, we see fleet #51 - a 1959 International Model B-163 (special school bus chassis) supporting a body of unknown origin and operating for Leigh's Transportation Company of Amityville, New York.

While the company was involved in some local transit, their school bus operation seemed to be their forte albeit with a potpourri of equipment.

Photo courtesy of 'tccbeat' and is available at eBay as item # 400524377023.

Mr, Linsky - Green Bus Lines, Inc., Jamaica, New York

Interesting fact about Leigh's Transportation Company facility, it was right next to the Amityville Railroad Station and is currently the site of the Amityville Fire Department. The address was given as 208 or 209 Ketcham Avenue

Here is a map of bus routes in the Town Of Huntington from a 1970 issue of The Long Islander.

Here are a list of the routes

Huntington Coach Corp: S01, S02, S03, and S04

Northport Bus Corp: S11, S12, and S13

Mid-Island Transit: S21, S22, and S23

Clara Leigh, Inc: S31, S32, S33, and S34

Babylon Transit: S41

Suffolk Bus Corp: S51

If you look at the map Babylon Transit's S41 looks like the current S29 and Suffolk Bus's S51 looks like it follows part of today's S41.

I wonder if the "Suffolk State School" was another name for the Long Island Developmental Center, now home to "The Greens" 1100-unit housing development ?

I believe you may be correct. From what I gather the Suffolk State School opened in 1965 but was at some point there after, it doesn't mention exactly when, renamed Long Island Developmental Center.

I found for sale on Ebay a Sunrise Coach Lines bus schedule from 1948. The route is what we would today call the S92.

Heres the link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1948-SUNRISE-Coach-Lines-Bus-Schedule-Timetable-Long-Island-New-York-Vintage-VG-/142025647287?hash=item21116364b7:g:2xcAAOSw3ihXTacW

Here's the picture of the cover.
