Shown below at a company facility in April of 1977 is fleet number 957 - a 1956 GM TDH 5105 and one of nineteen (951 to 969) purchased by the Virginia Transit Company of Norfolk, Virginia between 1956 and 1957.

#957 is wearing the very pleasant two tone blue and white livery of Tidewater Metro Transit - a successor to Virginia Transit - and is signed for the #44 line between Norfolk and Portsmouth.

As what must have been with all of Tidewater's 5105 fleet, #957 is radio equipped as can be seen by the compact antenna over the ThermoMatic intake and an independently ducted after market Thermo King Air Conditioning unit.

Notice the placard under the headlights advertising WCMS which was and still is one on the nations leading Country Music Stations.

I believe that Tidewater was eventually absorbed by Hampton Roads Transit but I do stand corrected on that point.

Credit within image.

Yes - Tidewater Transit and PENTRAN (Hampton & Newport News) merged to form Hampton Roads Transit in 1999.

There is currently a trucking company called Tidewater Transit.
