A woman was struck & killed by a Lowell (MA) Regional Transit Authority bus Thursday afternoon in downtown Lowell. The Lowell Sun reports that the woman may have been trying to bang on the side of the bus to get the driver's attention to let her board when she somehow fell to the ground. The bus was stopped at a red light and when the bus started moving she was run over by the rear wheels. More from the Lowell Sun:

Today's Lowell Sun reports the police investigation has determined the bus driver not at fault, that the woman was running after the bus, which them stopped at a red light. The woman was trying to bang on the side of the bus as the light turned green. The bus started moving as the woman slipped or tripped, falling off the edge of the sidewalk onto the street and then was run over by the bus. Moderate to heavy rain was falling at the time of the accident.
