|
|
In a sudden and somewhat surprising move, the Connecticut Department of Transportation is soliciting bid proposals for some CT Transit services. These include fixed route services in Waterbury, Meriden, Wallingford, New Britain and Bristol, Hartford commuter express routes, and paratransit services in Waterbury, Meriden and Wallingford. There seems to be a rush to complete this, as bids must be submitted by October 28th, the operators chosen by November 18th, and begin operations on December 13th. There are 16 entities that have announced intention to bid on some or all of the services. More information can be found at the following link:

Bill D -
The actions are much more obvious, if viewed in context with present, difficult budget circumstances in most all jurisdictions.
We may suspect there will be considerable moves to "bidding out" any involvement with transit operations...

I did my math for the MCI bus count that they have. There are 21 buses ordered for the privately ran express routes. There are 8 buses ordered for Hartford, and 5 ordered for Stamford. That becomes 34 buses. Somehow, they advertised 33 buses. Could this be an error or this bus is an option bus that was ordered. |

Plus I have a feeling about HNS/First Transit taking over New Britain operations. |
