"Buses are the stars at the Transit Museum's largest outdoor event of the year! Six newly restored vehicles, plus the largest tow truck you've ever seen, take center stage, along with kids' workshops, free bus maps, and the MetroCard Bus. MTA employees will show you how to drive the Tunnel Wrecker, operate the Patcher, and see how the AutoCar made mobile repairs on the subway's third rail. Free admission to the Museum from noon to 5 p.m."
----
The above is from the Museum's pamphlet. Location: Boerum Place, between State Street and Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn.
----
Note that the Atlantic Antic, the lively street fair on Atlantic Avenue, runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It seems that the buses also open at 10 a.m. The downstairs museum opens at noon. The date is Sunday, September 26, 2010.

Had a terrific time there..Although, I was a wee bit dissapointed that they had a new artic instead of the LL Classic and the NYBS Fishbowl.
After I sat inside the Brand new Artic, I really started missing the LL Classic and the NYBS Fishbowl and wondered why we are moving backwards as far as comfort is concerned. It really hurt the back of my legs. I know, I know...they are for different applications. I guess I'm spoiled by my 2005 MCI D4500
I've sat on rocks that were more comfortable. This one is for you Mr. Linsky...I loved to death the "Ralph Cramden" bus. I sat there for about 15 minutes. |

Hmm..can't seem to find it anywhere on the web. I'm very curious to lay eyes on this thing. Are they gonna wrap it up with white paper like they do brand new BMWs on the car carrier!?!?!? |

Hello Hart.
Thank you for looking that up for me. Perhaps a work in progress at Shoreline Trolley? |

If 617 looks anything like 604 (below) when it rolls out of East New York (and I believe it will), it'll be the most gorgeous thing on six wheels!
They say that politics makes strange bed fellows and to see a Bee Line (L.I.) 5106 sitting in an MTA Bus garage in Brooklyn certainly reflects that adage!
Here's to 617!
Regards,
Mr. 'L'

I gotta tell you. This is one good looking bus. I hope it does look similar to this one Mr. Linsky.

I didn't think it was necessary to start a new thread, so I'm bumping this old one. Does anybody know the date for the 2014 version of the Bus Festival?
I might have some vacation time free in September and depending on my personal finances, I might take a trip down there.
Thanks. |

The Brooklyn bus festival is often on the same date as the nearby Atlantic Antic, a street fair that draws enormous crowds. The website for Atlantic Antic
http://atlanticave.org/index.php
gives the date for the next one as TBA, to be announced.
It often happens on the third or fourth Sunday of September.

Ok, thanks. How long in advance do they release the date for this event? |

Thanks for the info.
Yeah... can't book vacation time that week for this year, no spots left. I'll go in 2015 (should be Sept. 27th if I compare to years past and this year) and book that week (09/27 - 10/03) when it's time. So I should be there from 09/26 to 09/28 (Sat to Tue) 2015. |
