The second stop on the tour brings us to Montebello Transit Lines. This system runs in Montebello with three local and three express lines taking riders into Downtown Los Angeles. The fleet is made up of 1992-1995 RTSs, Gillig Advantages and New Flyer GE40LFs & LFRs. Here is some content from this system:
2809, a 2008 New Flyer GE40LFR is seen on Hill Street in Downtown L.A. 2809 is operating on the heavy Route 40 from Beverly Hospital into Downtown:
2003, a 2000 Gillig Advantage at the Route 20 Layover. This is one of three orders recieved from Gillig between 1999-2001:
9214, a 35 foot RTS-06 built by TMC is seen at the end of Route 10 across from East LA College. The 9200 series order is split between 35 and 40 footers. These buses are to be replaced by New Flyer GE35LFRs:
Behind 9214 is another endangered species in 9296. 9296 was a replacement for another RTS that broke down earlier in the day. I had the pleasure of riding this bus to the photo location:
One of the new kids on the block is New Flyer GE40LFR #2910. At a few weeks old when this photo was taken, it and its sister coaches will replace the remaining RTSs:
