I hope that everyone has filled out and returned their census forms by now. I passed this billboard giving one of the reasons why it is important to do so.

Happy Easter!

It's a great sign and would probably work well during normal economic times, but in the climate we're now in, I think it's going to take more than an accurate census count to put buses back on the streets again.

Don't get me wrong; the census will tell us how many buses we need but it won't do a lot on where the money will come from for the equipment and operation.

I understand the theory behind the census in that it should spread government subsidy more fairly - but, if there's no money to start with (and there is no money any more) what good is the whole thing?

I think we're in our problems basically because of all the 'waste' from Federal right down to local!

I'll give you a couple of examples; here in L.A. the meter persons ride around in brand new four door Prius's that probably cost the city $20,000 a copy! - what's wrong with a Cushman Motor Scooter at less than half that cost?

Same thing with the Post Office; I remember when mail persons walked there routes especially in cities - now they have millions of little trucks that must cost them billions!

You have to say; "what's wrong with this picture"!

Anyway, that's enough 'soap box' for me.

I can't say I am much pleased with the overall, "what's in it for me" tone of the massive advertising campaign. Used to be, people just filled out the forms.
It was widely understood it is just one of those minor duties citizens do. Had to laugh at this season's dumbed down questionnaire.

In this example, it is not hard to visualize endless communities where the "targeted" billboard shown would be largely baffling. Recalling bumper stickers
of ages back: "What if they gave a census, and no one filled out the forms?"
